Hepatitis A is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis A Virus. It is transmitted through fecal-oral route. Contaminated food and water is the most common vehicle transmitting hepatitis. The disease may lead to jaundice and hepatitis, liver failure and death may occur in severe cases. A complete course of Hepatitis A vaccination includes two shots, with first dose injected at 1 year and second dose injected at 1 year and a half, in order to produce antibodies to the virus. The most commonly seen undesirable effect after injection is injection site soreness. Other adverse reactions include tiredness, loss of appetite and fever, but these symptoms will not persist for long.
