Varicella is an acute infectious disease that is caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It is transmissed by droplets or air. Apart from fever, itchy rash will also appear. Therefore, young children should receive the first dose of Varicella vaccine at one year of age, followed by the second dose at least 3 months apart. Moreover, the side effects of the vaccine are mild. After injection, mild discomfort reactions such as pain at injection site, skin rash or vesicles may occur, but are usually mild and self-limited.
